Req Description ABB Inc. seeks a professional senior automation engineer to lead automation and SCADA activities in the Substation Automation Systems Engineering Department which consists of automation, protection, control, communication, and SCADA engineers and designers. As a senior automation engineer, you will be involved in all phases of the design, integration, installation, and testing of utility automation solutions for a variety of electrical substations and electrical distribution systems. Typical duties/responsibilities:
 Develop detailed system integration and automation design per project specifications as part of a project team including the implementation of HMI design, configuration of RTU and gateways and integration of Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), such as relays and RTUs, with SCADA and Substation Automation systems and perform system tests.
 Designs/develops SCADA package screens, objects, scripts, system communications architecture
 Preparing preliminary and final design reports, test procedures and performing systems integration and software development
 Development of conceptual and detailed designs including schematics, point lists, and associated documentation.
 Support the execution of project site control and protection activities including commissioning.
 Train and assist customers with the installation, commissioning and operation of automation systems, both on-site and from ABB offices.
 Able to effectively perform project management analysis techniques for standard projects by preparing and updating a project schedule
 Supervises or coordinates the work of automation engineers
 Assist the Substation Automation Engineering Manager in meeting department goals.
 

Education BSEE  

Interpersonal Skills Excellent oral/written communication skills  

Work Experience + Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering;
+ Master of Science preferred
+ Minimum of eight years relevant utility automation experience in electrical power systems or industrial automation systems domain
+ Ability to communicate effectively and act decisively including administration of warranty items.
+ Foresight to anticipate problems and recognize opportunities for cost-effectively improving operations.
+ Independently plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
+ Has a solid understanding of a variety of utility automation concepts, practices, and procedures
+ Experience with Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), such as relays and RTUs, and have the ability to analyze the data provided from these devices.
+ Technical qualifications include Technical knowledge in C and C++ languages, UNIX shells, Graphics experience a plus, Database connectivity a plus, ABB MicroSCADA experience a plus, Linux and/or Windows experience desirable
