Req Description BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION:
Facilities encompasses the facilities management, planning, co-ordination, maintenance and associated operations involving equipment, grounds and structures. It also includes managing the Process Engineering group dedicated to manufacturing process improvements and cost reduction.
Manage a group or groups engaged in a variety of activities within the Facilities/Production Engineering organization. Promote, develop and implement measures to achieve cost-effective improvements in operations, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Typical duties/responsibilities for operations may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Plan, schedule, assign work, and ensure activities are in compliance with Company policies and procedures, and with codes and regulations. Monitor Maintenance and Process improvements, initiate responsive measures, as applicable. Anticipate and introduce timely, effective actions to resolve problems.
Manage activities and initiate measures to ensure efficient operations and achieve long-term cost savings. Maintain awareness of new developments and technologies and direct subsequent investigations regarding their utilization.
Manage and document employee performance and initiate responsive actions.
Typical Tasks may include:
• preparing documents to put out tenders for contractors
• project management and supervising and coordinating work of contractors;
• investigating availability and suitability of options for new purchases;
• calculating and comparing costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money;
• planning for future development in line with strategic business objectives;
• managing and leading change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities;
• directing and planning essential central services such as security, maintenance, waste disposal and recycling;
• planning best allocation and utilization of space and resources for new buildings, or re-organizing current premises;
• using performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement;
• responding appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise.

Work Experience COMPLEXITY OF TASKS:
Requires broad knowledge of diverse operations and ability to independently resolve complex problems. Requires ability to communicate effectively, act decisively and influence decisions of senior managers and customers. Erroneous decisions or failure to properly manage activities may adversely impact schedules, cause unnecessary expenses and be detrimental to the organization's reputation and business prospects. Requires foresight to anticipate problems and recognize opportunities for cost-effectively improving operations.


TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field plus 8 to 12 years of experience. Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
